Magnolia Tea Room

Magnolia is located in the Curd-Thomas house, a turn of the century country Victorian cottage.  The house was built by Mr. Shirley Nix and occupied by Mr. Nix's sister, Octa Curd, who lived there until 1976 when she sold it to Weldon Thomas for the sum of $7,200.  The house remained in his possession for many years and was purchased in 2006 from Mr. Thomas's estate by Scott and Pat Seiber.

Located in a sharp curve of Highway 641, the house had been hit a number of times by drivers who failed to navigate the dangerous road.  An inspection revealed that the house had been knocked off its foundation and was being supported only by the center staircase.  However, since the structure is made of seasoned oak with wooden beadboard sheathing all interior walls, the house withstood the the test of time.  The Seibers are pleased to have saved the house as a historic property in the antique center of Hazel and hope you will view the uneven floors and irregular angles as part of the house's charm.

Our Business

Magnolia Tea Room opened March 26, 2008, and features homemade soups, fresh salads, sandwiches on homemade bread, and several flavors of homemade cakes. 

Who We Are

Owner Pat Seiber, an avid antique collecter and dealer, sees Magnolia Tea Room as the perfect venue for featuring both antiques and good food in a pleasant setting.  Pat - who describes herself as a frustrated Martha Stewart - spent almost two years renovating the country Victorian style cottage that houses Magnolia.   She and her husband Scott look forward to sharing the history of the house with their guests.  For those who share her interest in antiques, the quaint town of Hazel houses over a dozen antique shops and hundreds of dealers.

Chef Shanna Smith, a native of nearby Murray, KY, is a 2006 graduate of the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago, a Le Cordon Bleu school.  Even though she loved her time in Chicago, she is very glad that she returned home to embark on this adventure in tea.
